We've all been able to watch Butler in every situation for a couple years now, and I will speak for most in saying he's just horribly inconsistent, and when push comes to shove and someone needs to make a key play, do NOT count on Butler to do it. He has NHL talent, but horrible hockey sense. Always in the wrong place at the wrong time. He'll be replaced either this season or next season unless he shows massive improvement.

This team hasn't made the playoffs in 4 years. Who's been clutch for this organization? What defenseman has been clutch for this team over the past three or four years? Bouwmeester could never be counted on to be clutch. Giordano has been extremely inconsisten the past couple of seasons. Wideman is good offensively but we saw major defensive meltdowns in the 2nd half of last season. I simply don't think it's fair to paint Butler for not being clutch when no defenseman for the Flames has really shown the ability to rise to the occasion.
