Winter games have a lot less options for host cities when you consider that they have to rotate the games around the world. Especially if they keep growing in size, popularity and # of events. |
Innsbrook only hosted the games twice because the initial host city (Denver) decided that the cost was to great, as did other host cities. I guess you could say that they hosted the games twice, but one was by default. In the case of the 1948 games the location was selected because the Swiss were neutral and had facilities.
I guess what I am trying to say is that if people are hoping that the Dome stays as part of an Olympic bid it would be foolish as by the time that Calgary would be considered again the new building itself would be aging and in need of replacement.
