I see no value in keeping Manahan here whatsoever - the Flames are going to struggle and, as a 19 year old, he isn't going to change that.

Also, while he may be more physically developed than some trying to make the jump, what he hasn't had yet is the chance to dominate offensively in the CHL.

I would like to see him play on a quality team (Ottawa would trade him for sure) where he can really excel and get PP ice-time, etc. Not to mention the WJCs.

Playing limited minutes, limited situations, and with limited success, while being a physical target of the other team, is not the way to develop a kid, IMO.

I have seen so many young guys' development get slowed or derailed by playing in the NHL too soon. There is simply no upside to it, but there is plenty of potential downside.

Let him go get 150+ pts, play in the WJCs, play in the playoffs (hopefully the Memorial Cup), and THEN join the Flames.

Him and Gaudreau, hitting the NHL together next year would be awesome!
