agree it likely will never happen which pretty much tells fans what the NHLPA is all about when it comes to drafted players. They really don't respect the reasoning of what the draft is intended to be for all teams.
It is a good thing that the majority of the kids value being drafted to whoever drafts them and if they don't like it they honor the ELC anyways and play it out until they are RFA's etc.
It is not like the old days where teams would bury a guy in the minors out of spite or personal reasons. If a team has a prospect nowadays that is an asset and they have no need for him then they trade him for value back.
As for Gaudreau i just hope this talented little dude returns his honor to the Flames drafting him by signing next year since the players say it is a honor and a privilege when they are drafted.
