Not really that uncommon, I can think of the following off the top of my head:

March 1968 - Parts of the Philadelphia Spectrum roof blow off, Flyers play the final month of their home games in various available locales. Sixers play at the Covention Center, where they had moved from the year before.

1978 - Hartford Civic Center Roof Collapses, Whalers play their next two home seasons in Springfield, Mass.

1991 - Pieces of concrete fall from Stade Olympique in Montreal, Expos play all road games the final month of the season

2010 - Metrodome roof collapses from snow, Vikings play the next day home game in Detroit and another game at U. of Minnesota field

I'm sure there are others
