While the prosecutors looked incompetent (and ended up being criminals), I don't know if they bungled the case. A good prosecutor might have had a chance at conviction, but it would have been an injustice based on the law.
At no point was there, without reasonable doubt, enough evidence to say that Zimmerman wasn't acting in self-defense and when the prosecutor witness are caught lying, what else could be done? Zimmerman might not be innocent, but there was no way he should have been found guilty.
Glad that media manipulation and public outcry (and not to mention the president saying Trayvon would look like his kid...) didn't ruin someones life entirely and he was given a "fair" trial. Now hopefully he bankrupts NBC.
