Although Jay did mention in an interview, that guys like Gelinas etc, said that once it was official that they had retired, they definitely felt immediate regret....so with that understanding, I cans ee why the Flames would give him as much time as possible before putting it in stone.

Kipper doesn't seem like the kind of guy who would change his mind though.

Personally, I'm glad. He had a great career and it's a shame he never got to win it all, but we are rebuilding, and have a bunch of young talented goalies ready to battle it out for the starting role. If Kipper were to return, every start that he would make would be taking a valuable start away from a younger goalie, and in this period of transition we need to immediately start looking for, and grooming our next starting goalie.

Heck, even if Kipper were to change his mind and return, I would hope for the Flames to trade him, TBQH.

Thought crossed my mind last week that they are keeping his contract on the books to stay above the cap floor, should they decide to trade Cammalleri.
