Even if this story is even true (which I doubt it is, why the hell would Feaster's side leak that??) I don't see a problem with it. Everytime some other GM signs an RFA to a long overpaying contract, fans and media get all riled up about ''how GM's learning nothing, etc''. Well maybe Feaster's camp did learn something about Sutter-style contracts and what other teams go through. Maybe Feaster is actually doing what is best for the club first and foremost. If it is in fact true that Brodie's camp wants more term, good on Feaster for holding back. TJ Brodie has had exactly 1 good season. 2 years is more then enough for him to prove himself and cash in.
Backlund had no problem doing it. I'm liking Feaster's commitment to short term, prove yourself style contracts. Remind me of the good ol' pre-lockout days when teams actually had some kind of control over their RFAs.
