If the Flames are still the smallest team in the league (or one of the smallest 5) this time next year if I were an agent I would advise Gaudreau to stay the extra year and pick a team that would afford him the best opportunity to have a long NHL career.

We have monahan and knight who are both big and jankowski who will potentially join the team the same year as gaudreau, if not the year after. The flames have some size in their system
