Do you have some inside info as to what their plans were?
How do you Know that their plan did not consist of picking Mirco Mueller, Kerby Rychel, Anthony Mantha or Frederik Gauthier that just came off the board before the Flames pick.....
Maybe they panicked and said well that leaves us with the French kid meaning Fucale ( and not being sure if Fucale was French or Italian) and they got confused and picked Poirier instead.
We have no idea what the Flames plan was and if they stuck to it. My above scenario was all made up but it is as close to what we know about the Flames real plan we will get to find out before Feaster writes his memoirs in 20 years.
I have never heard a GM or organization step up after the draft and say that it was going too fast and we got mixed up with who was left and made the wrong pick.
As for sticking to a game plan .... nobody goes into a game planning to pull the goalie with a minute left..... however circumstances sometimes dictate that pulling the goalie does indeed become the best strategy for the situation.
