If he plays four years at Boston College the only card the Flames have over any other team is that at the end of Boston's season the flames can throw the ELC contract at him and play him in some late season games. In this scenario for playing a handful of games he burns one year (effectively getting him closer to that second contract) and gets a signing bonus and NHL money in March rather then August.
