Don't disagree with your post, just questioning whether insurance would cover the contract. I know from previous reading about previous long term contracts (and not just the super long ones), insurers have a limit to how long of a contract they'll insure. For some reason, I want to say 6 years.
Regardless, if ownership doesn't care, then I would be spending like that too (and shuffling players onto LTIR if they get hurt).
