Yes...but even then it seems extraordinary to me that almost 25% of all players filing this year are from one team.
It suggests (to me) that something is amiss with Cheveldayoff's negotiation abilities.
Certainly I wouldnt expect all 5 guys to actually make it to the hearing, but even if 1 or 2 get there...its a bad way to do business IMO. Arbitration is ugly for both sides. As an example, I believe that Darryl Sutter never ever let a case get to arbitration in 7 years...because he knew how it usually goes inside the room.
That being said, this is perhaps the way things will happen more often than not because of the new CBA.
