As a Canucks fan I am pretty envious of the prospects that the Flames have, they have done a really good job of building a solid base of players, while allowing the boom-bust players (ie Gaudreau) to mature at their own time in a safe environment, where they can learn to be dominant players. This is what the Red Wings have done so well, they breed players to be winners by giving them the time necessary to grow. I know that a lot of Flames fans have been hard on Feaster but the guy has done a great job in the draft so far and saying that I admit that I am counting chickens before they hatch, but the early indications are the the coop will be full in a couple of years.
Edit: This is honestly the reason that I don't think the Flames should rush into the let the young guys play all the hard minutes, not sign any veterans and trade who is on the team. You need the solid mentors who can show young players what it takes to win games and what it takes to be a professional but more importantly take some of the pressure off the young players when they inevitably slump in their first couple of years. Throwing prospects to the wolves is a recipe that is destined for failure.
