For college players that wiated for UFA you also don't go back far enough to capture Blake Wheeler (5th overall) in 2004, and missed Blake Kessel 166th overall in 2007.
Yes, the vast majority of college draftees sign with their drafting teams, but it seems like their might be a growing trend to wait and select their own team...

thanks, I updated the list because of Sweatt. Oversaw that he was originally drafted by the Hawks.
Well, I really didn't want to cover more than five drafts and deeper than in round 3, that was enough work already ... so I didn't go back to 2004 and Wheeler, although he was the first to use the Schultz loophole. I mentioned that in the whole blog post. I remember Kessel, he and Gregoire both walked away from the Isles in the same year ... but yeah, Kessel's not exactly a high-end player (he actually struggled to stay in the AHL this year), so I still wonder if a guy like him ever regrets a move like that.
