One difference is the team can sign a CHL player at anytime even though they may stay in junior. Take Monahan, Feaster says he's going to sign him this summer so there is no question of where he goes when he turns pro.
With college players you can't sign them until they declare they are turning pro so the thrill of being drafted fades and they can start thinking about other possibilities.
