Earlier this off-season word was the Flames were ready to spend to the cap if necessary...now they're barely above the floor assuming that Cammalleri gets moved at some point...$5.75 million per for your No. 1 centre finally isn't that high of a tag.
Its common knowledge that Flames ownership is very hands on but have a hard time believing that they're the reason this didn't get done. More than likely the Flames didn't have the pieces to compete with the Dallas offer, once they refused to move the No. 6 pick.
