Its not about the dollar amount. Its about the assets they'd have to give up to land a big name centre. At this stage of the rebuild it would just be too costly. Sure you land Seguin, but if you lose Baertshi, Brodie, along with guys like Gio or Glencross in the process, how much further ahead are you?
The Flames need to continue to stock the cupboards, not give away good assets for a big name. They can do that once they have enough to trade away and still ice a promising team.
