It is sort of odd thought that when it is a mother having sex with her sons, it is something that we can somewhat joke about. However when the tables are turned and it is the father who abuses the daughter we are all shocked and horrified. No I am not stating the father abusing the daughter is a light laughing matter, as it is sick and wrong and something that I find repulsive (and for good reason). I find it odd that there is a double standard however.

I have the feeling that everyone involved here has some significant mental problems however. This is what shocked me though, the mother had to be put into a detoxification clinic! What the hell is someone who is in a detox clinic doing with custody with children. Come on she has proven she isn't responsible enough to run her own life, so lets give her a couple of kids. Yikes.
However, the article makes a good point, as to why it seems like a double standard:

He said such cases are rare, especially when they involve a woman. "We see it the other way around, where the father's abusing the daughter way more frequently," Poland said.
That's why it seems like a joke... because it rarely, almost never, happens that the mom is the culprit. It is so unheard of that it is shocking and almost laughable (although, of course, it is not!)
It is simply stating a fact when one says that the father abuses the daughter kind of cases happen more often. Because they do. Of course, I agree that either case is horrifying and wrong.

However, the double standard appears again in a similar situation. If a woman sleeps around, she's a slut. But if a man sleeps around, he isn't a "man slut". So it's not as if the men are the only ones looked down upon.
