What could a comparable Flames package look like?

No forward that matches Eriksson, but could send a cheaper Glencross if they wanted to ask him to waive. Since that is likely a non-starter, the deal would not happen, but let's assume for the sake of this that he is the comparable.
Since Glencross makes less, taking Peverley back has an even bigger bonus for the Bruins, so the level of prospects may be able to dip slightly.
Morrow is a 1st round pick, touted as a top defensive prospect. Brodie would be giving too much here, as he has made the NHL, but there is again, no match here. Wotherspoon could fit as an NHL prospect D who stands a good chance of being a contributing NHLer.
Reilly Smith and Matt Fraser are two young forwards who have put up good AHL numbers, around 0.75 approx PPG. In terms of offensive prospects, Baertschi is above this level, but Horak, Byron, Nemisz are way below. Unproven prospects such as Granlund may not have as much appeal, but a guy like Gaudreau may have a lot of appeal.

So possible deals could have been:

Seguin and Peverley
for
Glencross, Brodie and Gaudreau (and a pick?)
OR
Glencross, Wotherspoon, Gaudreau and #22 pick.
OR
Glencross, Wotherspoon, Baertschi (and a pick?)

My guess is Peverley or Kelly had to be thrown in, which may have also made the Flames ownership balk at that offer, taking on another Matt Stajan contract vs production scenario, losing their best value forward who wants to be here and a real high potential prospect or two.
The result of this trade for the flames would give them a guy to build around, but take away the short-mid term help, leaving a window to win with Seguin before UFA that is very small.

Dealing for Seguin is perfect for a team with depth of prospects, closer to being competitive, so the Flames were never a realistic fit for this trade IMO
