Is it possible I've gone from a 'hater' to a 'white knight' in the span of about 6 months?
I'd have more respect for Iginla if he signed with a division rival like the Canucks. It would show he valued winning more than paychecks or go-through-the-motions hockey.
I don't give two wet sharts about what team he chooses, it has no bearing on me as a flames fan, excitedly looking forward to next year's Flames team.
Frankly, I hope he signs 1 or 2 year deals for the rest of his career, hopping from contending team to contending team, giving his all for the last shot at ultimate glory. That's much more admirable than signing some big long term deal with some crappy team that can afford to pay him all he wants and more. Sign for less than market at a team you think you could help push over the top. I hope he plays until his early to mid 40s, and I hope he does tours in a third of the league by the time. The ultimate hired gun.
It would be interesting to cross reference the 'thanks' from roof daddy's post with those who bought Iginla pens jerseys. I won't bother, though.
