There has seemed to be a lot of love for Filppula on this site over the years. Personally I've never really seen the point.
He has only once passed ~ 0.5PPG by a notable margin, and was actually below that pace last season. At 29 years old I'm guessing that his 2011-12 season will remain as his career high. Possibly "post-apex" already. Just kind of a 'meh' player in my books.
Nothing against signing him short-term though, the guy is a steady performer and we could use that.
But Peter Mueller intrigues me much more. He even shoots right, unlike Filppula
