Seguin, like Lindholm would have done, fills two needs at the same time. 1. Top six center on a team weak in centers (even though we do have Janko, Knight, Backlund, Reinhart, Monahan in the works). 2. Top six RW depending on how the coach deploys his troops. I love Gaudreau to death because of what he is and his skill set but he will be a part in any deal for a 21 year old top tier forward.

The rumored deal the guy posted on Hockey buzz is right down the alley interms of acquisition cost if it was for Seguin alone. What I do think is happening is tweaking around the deal in terms of Boston getting a winger or two in return as well potentialy adding a D-man going to Calgary.

A deal like this essentially puts Calgary out of the Free agent market on almost all fronts. So it would not surprise me if this rumor is ongoing for a while.

Boston will be announcing deals for Rask and Bergeron any hour now so you know they will be looking to deal.

I cannot see many complaints if this deal happened. Yes it is a rebuild and they still can draft and be patient. But the goal of the whole thing is to get back into contention as fast as possible.
