I don't think he was terrible per se, just overprojected, and subsequently overpaid. He could proably be an alright 5-6 guy who plays some PP. I think the problem was that he got paid as a top 3 guy with a long term deal after one good year in the NHL though. Essentially 26 million over 6 years for one good season. Basically being in the right place at the right time after Chris Pronger and the gang left town and Joni Pitkanen didn't care to be there. He looked better than the rest of that disinterested bunch, and appeared to be more talented. Lowe paniced and gave him a huge deal.
