I would rather spend 20 years on the Flames and do my best than do 15 years, screw off cause I wanted to touch a Cup and fail at it because "I" wanted it or felt I "deserved" it. There have been many great players in the HOF who never touched a cup and stuck it out with their team cause they were about the team. They were team players- hockey is a team sport. And man would I feel like an ass if I never did touch that Cup for my own selfish purposes and desserted the team and the fans who supported my ass and loved me for years only to not only come up empty handed Stanley wise, but fan wise.

So if Iginla stayed would we be better off not being a rebuilding team? The entire team was built around Iginla and it just wasn't working any more. I'd rather be a rebuilding team and get prospects out of him than sit around for another 3-5 years waiting for him to retire
The team asked him to leave and he left for the betterment of the team regardless of the team he ultimately went too
