I am not sure where all these Schultz is slow rumors are coming from as that is not the case at all. Although not the fastest skater for his size he is an above average skater.
The knock on Schultz is that he doesn't play to his size. Being that big he rarely hits, fights or has much aggression/ emotion. However he has a great stick, really good positioning is very defensively sound ( when mike green was playing forward Schultz was his d partner and covered up a ton of turnovers) lastly he makes great breakout passes.
Him and Oates had a falling out has he wanted a mean streak, which he does not have. That led to the clash, however he is still very serviceable, and would be a very interesting partner for wideman. Or even gio, so he can go back to jumping in the play again, which he got away from last year being paired with wideman.
