Thanks for the responses everyone. As it turns out, my juggling of things may result in me dropping my car for servicing in the North, and my Mum might be taking my son for a few hours. I might just hop on the 301 and bus it to Harry Hays and parking will be a non-issue.

I'm in the same boat. I could have renewed earlier, but I was waiting for the 10-year passport, and I need to travel on July 24th. A bit tight, obviously, and I'm happy to pay for expedited service if necessary. But an in-person renewal will definitely save me a few days of valuable time. Not having to do photos and a renewal in 5 years will be a nice bonus, and well worth any immediate hassle and costs to expedite.
