It is highly unlikely that he is better than Backlund or Stajan in October. If he shows that he is - then great.
I think it's more likely that he gets a 9 game tryout. And that is what I would prefer. Spending a year rocking the CHL, being one of the best players, being a leader, playing in the WJCs, and getting playoff experience (assuming he is traded) would be good for him.
Then join the NHL when he is one year older, stronger, and more confident.
Interesting that Button said he wanted to stay with the 67s last year though, because I would think that if the Flames sent him down, they would ask/encourage the 67s to trade him to a contender.
