The Seguin deal will never happen, not for the Flames (who wouldn't have the assets that Boston wants), or for anyone else (who wouldn't be foolhardy enough to pay the asking). Does Chiarelli think that no one watched Boston's run this year? Seguin was brutal, totally invisible. I think the legitimate market would be a mid 1st round pick, and possibly a top 6 forward or d-man. But a top 3 pick plus more? No way.
As for Horton, as soon as a guy says the move isn't for financial reasons, you know it is. I question the character of a guy who wants to hit the market before he even hears an offer from his existing team, especially when that team has been to the finals twice in 3 years, and won it all once.
If you're the Flames, trying to rebuild, is that the kind of guy you want in your room? Money first, team second. No thanks.
