I just want to warn about due diligence when getting a contractor. My mom's place flooded in 2005 and she was so impatient that she grabbed the first "contractor" that she could. He couldn't even measure properly and kept demanding another $1,000 up front for material. The second "contractor" seemed to be securing clients without having the manpower to actually attend to all of them.

It wasn't until I managed to get a couple weeks off work to "supervise" did we finally find a guy who was professional.

There will be a lot of "contractors" available now and in demand so be careful.
