From a stats point of view, sure.
However, we are not a playoff team, nor will we be for a while. Stats become less important in that case as attitude becomes more important.
None of the players over Backlund's age matter at all in terms of when we are going to be good again. The veteran players need to have good work ethic and play the game in the right manner, in order to teach the kids properly. This will help the Hanowski's and Reinhart's and maybe even the Baertschi's develop into good NHLers by learning to play the game the right way. We need good leaders on this team so we can hopefully avoid the whole Edmonton issue.
Jones is a hard worker, and a good PKer who can chip some offense in. SOB is well an SOB, just like Sarich.
In terms of rebuilding, we now have a better player for that specifically, even though stats wise we are worse off.
