Has Gillis had a trade not blow up in his face? Hodgson, Roy, Booth, all brutal trades.

The Hodgson trade was pretty brutal but the Roy and Booth trades weren't awful trades. The problem with the Derek Roy trade was that the offensive system in Vancouver has been awful for the past two seasons, putting a new offensive player into the same situation doesn't change the fact that the offensive system is broken. The Booth trade wasn't a bad trade player wise but I agree the Booth contract is seemingly an albatross, especially given that he is always injured.
White for Ehrhoff and Lukowich was a great trade that really helped the Canucks in 2011 as well as picking up Higgens for a third round pick.
Frankly most of the successful GMs are those who build on the tough work of their predecessors who make the big trades of popular veterans for youth.
