For agruments sake is Ference the guy you sign to pair with Wideman?
Personally I was a fan of Ference and was P/O'ed he was traded.
Nystrom for me is a no but I am interested in hearing what people think.

For what we are trying to accomplish Nystrom and Ference make more sense than Neon Dion.
Both Nystrom and Ference were one of the hardest working Flames during their respective tenures. They aren't the most talented players, but have the work ethic we need to teach our developing team. They also work hard in a get results kind of way, as oppossed to a grind it out Sarich or Comeau kind of way.
The Flames still to ice some kind of team and can't afford to spoil the development of prospects by forcing them onto the ice too early.
Neon Dion...I'm not so sure about. He's going to teach the kids to wear Ed Hardy, start fights with vets in the locker room, repeatedly miss shots from the point, aovid learning how to properly turn around on ice skates, make bad situations worse, and date movie stars? The guy continues to lack serious hockey smarts. Not sure he's the kind of guy I want to have around the team.
From the Toronto media:
Quote:
The pinch on Boston winger Nathan Horton wasn’t even the first time that night that Phaneuf went for the big hit at the blueline, missed and created a Bruins scoring chance. He also gambled with the puck too often in the third period, creating anxious moments.
Phaneuf is 28. He’s been in the league eight seasons, yet continues to make the same mistakes as when he arrived.
The longer Phaneuf stays on the ice, the greater the chance one of those egregious decisions leads to a loss. He played 31:14 on Wednesday – minutes worthy of a No. 1 defenceman – and should not.

Sound familiar...8 years later, and he still can't figure it out. I'll always hate Sutter for not brining back a high 1st rounder or high end offensive prospect for Phaneuf, but I don't miss him.
