My son and I just got back home. We were in Roxboro since early morning loading dumpsters and breaking off wet studs from people's basements. Devastating scenes everywhere. Food in trays from flooded freezers is starting to rot and smell really bad. Wet drywall crumbling over the grass. Wedding albums... Pieces of wet carpet and underlay are really tough to handle - heavy, leaking all over. When cutting them out, it is better to cut them in smaller pieces. Headlamps are really useful in dark basements.

Found a 5" thick album of hockey cards outside in a pile; some cards dating as far back as 50's. Could have been worth a fortune, probably. Was badly damaged from the outside but the cards inside were OK. We left it on the porch, as homeowners weren't even home.

Lots of volunteers on the streets knocking on the doors and asking people if they need help. But there is still tons of work for everyone that wants to get involved as people get tired pretty quickly. If anyone wishes to get involved, just stop by the volunteer station near the Jewish Cemetery in Erlton and they'll tell you where people are needed the most. They do have some useful stuff over there: gloves, T-shirts, garbage bags, water and even small flashlights.

Can't feel my back and fingers. I think I deserved a beer now.
