NBC crossed the eight million viewer threshold for the clinching game of the 2013 Stanley Cup Final.
Game 6 of the Blackhawks/Bruins NHL Stanley Cup Final drew a 4.7 final rating and just under 8.2 million viewers on NBC Monday night, up 52% in ratings and 66% in viewership from Devils/Kings Game 6 last year (3.1, 4.9M), and up 47% and 49%, respectively, from Canucks/Bruins Game 6 in 2011 (3.2, 5.5M).
Viewership peaked at 10.4 million from 10:45-11:00 PM ET.
Monday’s game ranks as the ninth-most viewed NHL telecast on any network dating back to 1966, and the fourth-most viewed Game 6. The only Game 6 telecasts to earn better numbers were Blackhawks/Flyers in 2010 (8.3M), Canadiens/Blackhawks in 1973 (9.4M), and Bruins/Rangers in 1972 (10.9M).
Game 6 also ranks as the third-most viewed NHL telecast since the league returned to broadcast television in 1995. Only Blackhawks/Flyers Game 6 in 2010 and Bruins/Canucks Game 7 in 2011 (8.5M) drew more viewers since the league’s 1995 return. Overall, the four most-viewed games since 1995 have all aired on NBC.
Among adults 18-49, Monday’s game drew a 3.1 rating — up 55% from Game 6 last year and in 2011 (2.0 both years). The 3.1 is the best for any NHL game in the demo since Bruins/Canucks Game 7 in 2011 (3.4).
