Cap recapture is different, its set up to penalize teams for front loading contracts and lowering the overall cap hit by adding years at the end with a very low salary.

Cap Recapture does not apply to 35+ contracts, because the old 35+ rules from the previous CBA got carried forward, which are already stronger than the cap recapture rules.
Under the new rules, the cap recapture clause will let teams have a player retire, and only have a salary cap hit of roughly the difference between the Salary and the cap hit (gives a rough number anyway). Under a 35+ contract, the team is on the hook for the full cap hit until the end of the contract no matter what.
There aren't too many contracts that would fit both criteria anyway, as there aren't too many players signed for at least 7 years that signed the contract when they were older than 35.
