While most Calgary residents are looking out for each others’ homes and property, there are a few looking to loot it.

In red zones — areas evacuated for citizens’ safety as the Bow and Elbow Rivers bloated and overflowed late last week — there have been 13 known break-ins.
It’s “absolutely” frustrating, said Calgary Police Service Duty Insp. Julian Gagne, and it’s something they’ve put resources into battling.
“We’ve deployed security patrols 24-seven at this point and we’re going to maintain that,” Gagne said.
Deputy Chief Trevor Daroux called that “a lot of eyes,” and not just those of Calgary’s finest — Joe Public is on tap to stop such activity at times when their neighbours are vulnerable.
