Please proceed slowly and calmly, following these directions:
VEHICLES IN CANMORE
Vehicles will be allowed to travel to Calgary and points east. Exit the community over the Bow River bridge and then via Three Sisters Parkway following the detour signs. See maps for detour route on the Town’s web site. Once on the Trans Canada Highway, the speed limit is 60 km/h and PASSING IS NOT PERMITTED. You will not be allowed to return to Canmore on the highway until further notice.
Westbound traffic out of Canmore is unrestricted though an undivided, two-way section of highway. The speed limit is 60 km/h and PASSING IS NOT PERMITTED.
BANFF/CANMORE COMMUTERS
No private passenger vehicles are permitted EASTBOUND on the Trans-Canada Highway between Banff and Canmore. If you need to commute between Banff and Canmore, you must use the “ROAM” shuttle bus until further notice.
The Banff Legacy Trail remains closed due to bridge failure.
OTHER INFORMATION
Travel into Canmore is strictly controlled. No private WESTBOUND vehicles are permitted on the Trans-Canada Highway or Highway 1A between Hwy 40 and Canmore is allowed, with the exception of emergency vehicles and those providing relief services.
