People losing their homes and possessions is what makes this a travesty.
Screw the saddledome and the stampede. The media and too many people are focusing on that instead of the tens of thousands of people directly effected by the flood.

I'm not sure the media attention is lacking on those that lost their homes. But you are correct, the Stampede, the Flames, and business down town being shut down re getting some attention. The reason being, the 90% of Calgarians who have been lucky enough (and I mean that, so fortunate) not to lose their homes or have significant damage, things like the Stampede are how they are being effected. Life in Calgary is not normal for anyone right now. Agreed, the real victims are those with damage to their homes, but people are allowed to focus on the entire picture as well, and the media is allowed to bring that story to them. Also, don't underestimate the impact events like the Stampede can be as a rallying point and up lifting thing for the city, including those most impacted. Pulling together and making something this city is known for happen might be a great distraction for those folks, and don't doubt for a second that both the Stampede and the Flames won't play a huge role in raising funds for those most hurt by this.
