That's true, though there would be a limit (mass of water pushing in vs mass of water already in), half full seems a little extreme.
Maybe someone meant the rink is half full (i.e. half way up the glass)?
Mind you the little streaks below the "portals" high on the side, maybe that's water leaking out!
