Flood is considered water leakage and seapage. This is not covered by any insurance company in any way shape or form. Now if the city rates it as a catastrophe, just like Canmore is right now, then the Government may step in and act just like the insurance company.
You would have to call the insurance company you are with, file a claim, then wait for the insurance company to deny coverage and you would take that letter to the government and they would step in and help.
Now if the government states that the damage is NOT severe enough....Calgary as of right now, then no coverage and you are on your own.

Only other thing worth mentioning, flood damage IS covered under car insurance for anyone who's vehicle was swept downstream.
