They might try to integrate it again later in the life-cycle when people are more accepting of their vision, and there are more units sold so the backlash isn't as large.

I really liked the idea of being able to "lend" someone your game. It's the one thing I wish Steam had. I have some friends who have moved away to other cities and it would have been a great way to lend them a game.
