If you're worried about the cap floor it's a perfect time for Feaster to bring in a bad contract where the other team has to sweeten the pot substantially to make the deal happen. A poor contract to make the cap floor + young players and/or picks is the way to go for this team right now, not a UFA like Horton.
Considering Horton has already won a cup and is currently in the finals to try to win another, going to a competitive team might not be his top priority. If he can get a $4M contract from the competitive team or a $7M contract from the Flames then that might change his priorities.

I agree with the idea of Feaster using his cap space to pick up a bad contract + picks/prospects (I would also like to see us get some picks/prospects from the Islanders for a compliance-buyout-trade).

However, there is a danger behind filling our cap space with a bad contract. Bringing in Horton to mentor the youth means the kids are learning from a winner. Bringing in Heatley from the Wild because of their cap situation means we have an expensive, potentially disasterous role-model for the young guys to learn from.
