It is still important to have players across the age and experience spectrum. The Flames are hurting for the guys in their prime (25-29 or so). Gio is certainly tradeable with a good return, but I wouldn't want an entire team of youngsters without any leadership or experienced veterans to lend guidance. Gio is likely more valulable to the Flames than any other franchise.

^ this should really be stressed a bit more around here.
I understand that some people are worried that keeping Tanguay could hurt the future of the organization because some of his "attitude problems" could rub off on the young guys.
Personally, I am more concerned about having a team with so few veterans that the identity of the team is driven by the young kids and they have no one to set a good example for them. Giordano definitely has value to the Flames because he provides that leadership that should help mold our players for the better of the team's future.
I would like to think that Giordano is worth the #5 pick. Partially because I think he is a high value player on a reasonable contract and partially because most people agree that the first talent drop off in the draft is at #5 which makes the pick worth significantly less than a 1-4 pick.
