I only say this because I think the Flames are a lot more than 1 player away. Would MacKinnon by himself improve the Flames as quickly as the infusion of three top tier talents (they must be top talents to be considered first round picks)?
It's a tough call for the club, MacKinnon could be a great talent like Tavares but one great talent on his own doesn't always guarantee winning.

Too many IF's. In a world where you have inperfect information, and given the past huge risk with the lower end 1st rounders, I would not blink an eye to deal all 3 firsts for one of the top 4 picks. Franchise players aren't a dime a dozen. By all accounts this is a deep draft, but not necessarily deep to the point of possibly getting a stud that late. Even a great draft in 2003 there were many not so great players that were drafted late. It's always a risk and teams with those high picks know that they have something special - especially in a year like this.
