What if the Flames get Lindholm, Horvat and Rychel with their 3 picks. I understand that MacKinnon is way more talented than any of the players on his own, but does the combination of talents and the overall talent infusion into the Flames change the thinking?
I personally would keep the 3 picks if the team could get 3 players like the ones I mentioned above to add to the base of players that are currently here. I only say this because I think the Flames are a lot more than 1 player away. Would MacKinnon by himself improve the Flames as quickly as the infusion of three top tier talents (they must be top talents to be considered first round picks)?
It's a tough call for the club, MacKinnon could be a great talent like Tavares but one great talent on his own doesn't always guarantee winning.
