Which part of Bernier doesn't make sense to acquire?
- 24 years old
- NHL starter ability (although not heavily tested yet)
- un-signed RFA (we can sign him to a long term contract if we really want)
Having a good goalie for the rebuild is good for a "winning" culture. It is good for the kids to have a goalie that can give you a legitimate chance to win games every night just based on his performance.
Personally, I am fine with seeing how Ramo/Berra/MacDonald do this year and going for another good draft next summer but I certainly would be happy if we managed to land Bernier for a cheap/reasonable price right meow.
