I think we all would have liked this done a month ago. There is a good chance that both Shanahan and Campbell told Edwards they were interested but they would not sit down with them until closer to the end of the playoffs.
The part that has me wondering is this quote:

I get that ownership would be low in confidence on Feaster, but i dont see what would have made them change their mind on him from the end of the season until now?
If they had soured on him by the end of the season, why did they just not let him go?
The only thing i can think of from souring on Feaster from the end of season until now is that Feaster guarnateed them that the flames would get MacKinnon by having 3 1st round picks. It looks highly unlikely that Feaster can get MacKinnon from either of the bottom 2 teams.
