Dawgs win in front of packed house

Sunday June 16, 2013

Quote:
The Okotoks Dawgs (9-3) hosted the Edmonton Prospects (1-12) during the annual Father’s Day game in front of just over 4000 people at beautiful Seaman Stadium. The game did not start out as planned for the home squad, but a late rally gave the fans a lot to cheer about.

The Prospects put up three runs in the first, four in the second and one more in the third to give them an 8-6 lead through three innings. After a rocky start, the relievers settled down and shut down their opponents from there. Dominic Porretta (Otterbein University) got the win pitching, 2.2 innings without giving up a run.

The offense was playing from behind from the first inning on, but it didn’t seem to rattle them. After scoring early to try and match the runs that the Prospects were putting up, the boys put the game away in the eighth inning. Sean Kettering (Otterbein University) hit his seventh home run of the young season and Jordan Procyshen (Northeastern Junior College) hit his second homer of the year. Also, Cade Gotta (San Diego Christian College) put a ball over the fence to give him his first homer of the season.
