...Now, it's Seth's turn to return the favour for an organization.
The 18-year-old Jones has grown into one of the top prospects in hockey and is the consensus No. 1 pick in the NHL draft later this month.
That pick belongs to the Avalanche — now led by Sakic, the team's former captain who was recently promoted to executive vice-president of hockey operations.

With national media reporting & implying that Jones to the Avs 1st overall is essentially a done deal, is this 'trade proposal' just another way for Feaster to get into the media to show the fans that he's 'making an effort to improve the team'?
Colorado's requirements to move the pick are so enormous because I believe they have absolutely no intention of trading away their chance to draft a homegrown superstar (first African American drafted 1st; son of a local sports hero; potential new fan base etc). Feaster would be well aware of this so what's the point? Just kicking tyres & letting the entire NHL know all our picks are in play? It makes us look desperate.
I hate to bring up the ROR incident, but I wonder if that was a similar situation. Knowing that Colorado would match, Feaster could say 'Hey, no one could say I never tried to get Iggy that #1 Centre, right?' 'hey, no one could say I never tried to sign Brad Richards, right?'
When I read about Feaster's attempted moves I shake my head in disbelief. I don't even mind the moves he
has made. It's the follies & faltered near-miss catastrophies that are starting to make me ashamed to be a Flames fan.
